30 Years at the Ritz Cooking School
Last weekend the Sacrebleu team was invited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Ecole Ritz Escoffier. This Ritz cooking school has pioneered classes based on French know-how, for people at different skill levels. Whether you are a professional trying to improve your skills or a young enthusiastic Chef, there is something to be learned.
The event took place in the newly renovated Garden and had a “marketplace” theme. On arrival we were given a woven basket that had a jar of Hazelnut spread inside, and were told to fill our baskets as we walked through the market.
With about 10 stalls, every food group was covered. The first and most popular stall was all about fresh produce, that was similarly in season. These included carrots of all colors and pumpkins! Pastries were another popular stall. Personally handled by Ritz, it had a lot of crowd pleasers from Lemon tart, to sugar glazed madeleines, and marshmallow gingerbread men. Each stall offered the upmost perfection and hospitality.
Us at Sacrebleu had three top favorites, starting with the cheese from La Ferme d’Alexandre. The gorgonzola with a touch of honey was delightful. Their wide selection made it possible for everyone to find something they would personally enjoy. Another place that stole our hearts was Lalos. They had beautifully crafted bread and the softest pain de mie! Finally, Ritz makes their own jam and Pêche Divine had us wanting more!
This marketplace was only a mere representation of the types of products used and taught in the Ritz Cooking school. The experience is very immersive, so much so you will carry the knowledge with you forever.
