Celebrating Thanksgiving in Paris
In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. On this day, friends and family gather around to share a meal together and 'give thanks' for everything they are grateful for. This holiday began as a harvest festival and was later declared a federal holiday by Abraham Lincoln. Traditional dishes served are composed of seasonal harvest and include turkey, stuffing, mashed and sweet potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, gravy, and pumpkin pie! Several parades and sports events take place on this day and the holiday has become a sentimental staple in American households. In honour of Thanksgiving, we have composed a list of places in Paris for Americans living or visiting looking for a little piece of home during the holiday and for anyone else interested in taking part of this traditional American holiday.
